This photograph captures so much; the luxury and simplicity of the art deco era, the emptiness of materialism and the colourless nature of loss.  I can look at it for ages! There is a brilliant balance of the vertical and horizontal lines and contrast of textures…  My eye is drawn to the model who holds so much mystery.  Wearing silk she reveals people to be soft and fragile in a hard and cold environment, but the bit that says it all is the curl of the toes!
